Are caregivers available 24 hours a day?
Yes. We are a wake staff facility to assist you 24 hours a day. There is a caregiver call system that alerts them to your need for assistance at the push of a button that you wear as a pendant or on your wrist.
What if I need to use a wheelchair or a walker?
The Cottages are fully handicap accessible. There are no steps and the extra wide hallways easily accommodate wheelchairs. The showers are barrier free which enables you to roll your wheelchair into the shower.
Is there a Registered Nurse on staff at the Elder Care Cottages?
Our clinical staff consists of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) for the cottages, and we have clinical staff on-site and on-call 24/7.
Does the Elder Care Cottages of WI provide Alzheimer’s and Dementia care?
Maplewood and Applewood cottages provide care for residents with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and Dementia if there are no wandering behaviors. Oakwood and Rosewood cottages are a secure environment for those residents with moderate to advanced Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Can I smoke at the Elder Care Cottages?
Elder Care Cottages is a tobacco-free campus to encourage a healthy environment for all residents, staff, and visitors.
Do I have to pay for utilities?
No. Heat, electricity, and cable television in the common areas are included in your monthly fee. All of the bedrooms are wired for cable television, a phone line, and internet access if you choose to have these personal services in your room. There will be an extra charge if you choose to set up one or more of these services. We will be happy to help you set up those accounts.
Do you accept Family Care?
Yes, based on availability.
What is a Cottage?
A Cottage is a large ranch home that happens to have 12 bedrooms! There is a kitchen, dining room, den, spa, and library in each cottage.
Can I have visitors?
Absolutely! We encourage friends and family to spend time with you in your home. They are welcome anytime, though early morning and late evening hours are not the best times times to visit.
Can I bring my own furnishings?
You are encouraged to bring your treasured belongings including furniture, pictures, and keepsakes to decorate your room.
Can I bring my pet?
They are welcome to visit if they have current immunization records on file with us.
